10 Best Custom Code Website Development Agencies for AI Copilots - October 2026

Summarize with AI

An AI copilot that wants a custom coded website fits best with Studio Maydit, because one team can code a working copy of your copilot inside its host app on the homepage, then keep designing the copilot after launch. Of the other nine, basement.studio and Phantom lead: both name custom code as their main platform and have published AI client work, and basement.studio counts Cursor, an AI code editor, as a client. In order of fit, the ten studios worth reviewing are Studio Maydit, basement.studio, Phantom, Feels Like, Engine Digital, Fantasy, Feely Studio, Ramotion, Instrument, and Pixelmatters. Only four competitors, basement.studio, Phantom, Feels Like, and Engine Digital, build in custom code first. Fantasy, Feely Studio, Ramotion, Instrument, and Pixelmatters work across mixed tools, so ask each one whether your site would be hand coded. Instrument and Pixelmatters are the weakest fit.

Take one product. It is a copilot that writes spreadsheet formulas for finance teams, inside Excel and Google Sheets. An analyst types EMEA revenue since July into a cell. The copilot answers in grey with a SUMIFS formula, three ranges and a date. The analyst presses Tab, and the number is right.

On the company's homepage, that moment is a 38 second video recorded on a large monitor. On a phone the formula is a grey blur, so the finance lead who opened the link from Slack cannot read the one thing that proves the product works. Search engines and AI assistants cannot read it either.

A coded site can draw a small, real grid in the browser instead. The visitor picks a question, watches the formula arrive in grey, presses Tab or taps, and sees the result and the formula as plain text on any screen.

The studios below are ranked on who can build that, and who leaves your team able to change it when the copilot changes.

Most AI products look the same. Yours doesn't have to. Client logos: Sathi, Dualite, Chariot, Pixelflow, Accocorp. Book an intro call with Studio Maydit.

How the ten were scored

  1. Code as the main craft. A copilot site needs a demo that behaves like Excel, an IDE, or an inbox. Does the studio write code first, or build mostly in Webflow, Framer, or a mix?
  2. Proof with AI products that live inside other software. Named AI clients count. A client like Cursor, whose product works where people already write code, counts most.
  3. A public minimum. We noted only whether a starting price is posted. No studio's figure appears here.
  4. Who builds the demo. Team size hints at whether the engineer coding the fake host app joins your calls in week one, or arrives after the design is locked.
  5. The studio's own site, on a phone. Load it on mobile data. Does the text appear before the effects? Can you use anything that moves, or is it decoration?

Treat that fifth check as a dress rehearsal. No client asked for changes on a studio's own site, so it shows the best the studio does unwatched. If its own interactive pages stutter on a phone, your demo will too.

Each table row repeats what a studio says on its own website or a public directory profile, read in October 2026. Private facts show as Not published. Nobody paid for a place.

What goes wrong when a copilot team commissions a coded site

The demo shows last quarter's copilot. The studio hand builds a lovely copy of the host app and your suggestion box inside it. Three months later your product team moves the accept button and adds a confidence label. The site still shows the old version, and a trial user notices the gap on day one. Ask the studio to build the demo from your own design tokens, or from a recorded session file your engineers can export again after each release.

The demo is so heavy the page is blank. A simulated spreadsheet or editor can ship a large script bundle. On a mid range phone the hero sits empty for three seconds, and if the demo is drawn on a canvas, none of its text reaches search engines. Ask for a weight budget in writing, real HTML text inside the demo, and a test on a cheap Android phone before launch.

The install button sends everyone to one store. Your copilot ships through two or three marketplaces, each with its own consent screen. The site has a single Get started button that opens the Chrome Web Store, even for a visitor in Excel on a Mac. Then the store asks for access to every spreadsheet, and the visitor leaves. Ask for one page per host, built from a single list, that names each permission in plain words before the store screen does.

The Studio Maydit website: design partner for taste obsessed AI companies

1. Studio Maydit: A Top-Rated Design Agency for AI Founders

A copilot team needs two things at once: a site that shows the product working inside its host app, and someone to keep improving the copilot. Studio Maydit is a web and product design studio that does both for AI founders in the US, UK, and Europe. It builds in Framer, Webflow, and custom code, and a copilot usually wants code. Once the site is live, the same people move on to product design for the suggestion box, the accept and undo states, and the first run.

Proof comes from a tool developers use every day. Dualite brought the studio in for its site and its product, and design work supporting a repositioned ICP helped it pass 100,000+ users in seven months. Read the Dualite case study to see both halves. Wave, PixelFlow, and Mi-VAD hired the studio recently too, as did 15 other AI and SaaS teams.

There are two ways to buy. A fixed scope takes three to four weeks and fits a copilot with a date, such as a new marketplace listing going live, and it finishes with a diagnosis of what is leaking in the product, for example where trial users stop before they accept their first suggestion. A copilot that adds a new host app or feature most months can take a monthly retainer instead, covering new pages, campaigns, and product design, with no long lock-in.

2. basement.studio

basement.studio has coded sites from Mar del Plata, Argentina and Los Angeles, USA since 2018, for clients including Vercel, Cursor, ElevenLabs, Harvey AI, and Scale AI. Cursor is an AI code editor, so this team has already shown an AI helper at work inside a busy tool. It posts a minimum.

With 11 to 50 people and a client list this wanted, start dates can be far out. Ask early.

3. Phantom

Phantom codes from London, UK and Auckland, NZ, with 51 to 200 people, and has published AI client work. Its clients include Zendesk and SAP, software whole teams work inside all day, the kind of host many copilots plug into.

Phantom does not publish a minimum, and its named clients are large. A ten person copilot team should ask how small a project it takes.

4. Feels Like

Feels Like is a young Los Angeles studio that builds in custom code, with published AI client work for Suno AI alongside Google, Nike, and LVMH. A copilot for writers or designers gets a coding team used to work that must feel lively, not just correct.

It publishes neither its team size nor a minimum, so its record is short. Ask to see a real product screen it rebuilt in code.

5. Engine Digital

Engine Digital has worked from Vancouver and New York since 2002, and custom code is its main platform. Its clients include Adidas, Autodesk, Goldman Sachs, and HP. Autodesk makes design software that engineers keep open all day, so the team knows a host where a copilot would have to earn its place.

Its AI proof is partial, and it publishes neither its team size nor a minimum. A small copilot team should ask who would actually do the work.

6. Fantasy

Fantasy has worked from San Francisco and New York, USA since 1999, with published AI client work. A copilot company still choosing which host apps to back gets a long-running team to think that through before any code.

Fantasy works in mixed tools, not custom code first, and publishes no named clients, no team size, and no minimum. That leaves very little to check before a call.

7. Feely Studio

Feely Studio is a team of one to ten people spread across Europe, with published AI client work for Noxus, Mutiny, Luasai, and Basic Capital. It posts a minimum, which helps a seed copilot team plan.

Feely works in mixed tools, not custom code first, so a coded in-host demo may need an outside developer. A team this small has limited room.

8. Ramotion

Ramotion is a San Francisco, USA studio of 11 to 50 people, founded in 2009, and it posts a minimum. Its clients include Mozilla, Okta, Netflix, Adobe, and Xero. Mozilla makes a browser and Adobe makes tools people work in for hours, so the team knows products that host other people's add-ons.

Its AI proof is partial, with no AI case study, and it works in mixed tools rather than custom code first. It is a premium studio, which strains a seed budget.

9. Instrument

Instrument has worked from Portland, USA since 2005, for Nike, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, and Google. Microsoft and Google both own the office suites many copilots plug into, so the team has worked on the host side of that relationship.

Its AI proof is partial, and it publishes neither its team size nor a minimum. It works in mixed tools, not custom code first, and its usual clients have budgets far above a seed round.

10. Pixelmatters

Pixelmatters works from Porto, Portugal, with 51 to 200 people, founded in 2013, and it posts a minimum. Its clients include Rubrik, Quantic, and UJET. UJET sells software for support teams, a common home for copilots that draft replies, and the team sits in a European time zone.

It ranks last for this brief because it works in mixed tools, not custom code first, and its AI proof is partial. Ask early whether your demo would be real code or a video in a site builder.

How to choose between them

Start from what your site gets wrong about your copilot today.

Your demo is a video nobody can read on a phone. You need a coded, in-host demo with real text. Studio Maydit, basement.studio, or Phantom.

You support three host apps and the site only talks about one. You need a page per host, built from one list, with the right install link on each. Studio Maydit, Phantom, or Engine Digital.

Your copilot is for creative work and the site looks like every developer tool. You need brand feel as much as code. Feels Like, or Fantasy if the strategy is not settled yet.

You are pre-seed with one host and five pages. Feely Studio for a small European team, or Ramotion if you have the budget and an engineer of your own.

One test before you sign. Ask the studio to show you, on its own site, a piece of interface rebuilt in code that you can click on a phone. If it can only show you videos, your demo will be a video too.

Looking for something else?

Book a call with the founder.

Mostly AI and SaaS teams who have outgrown their design: a site that no longer explains what they do, a product people sign up for but do not stick with, or a launch coming faster than their team can design for. They need senior design without building an in-house team.

Websites and products. For websites: positioning, copy, design, and a Framer, Webflow, or code build that turns visits into demos and signups. For products: research, flows, UI, and a design system, so users get value sooner and engineers have clear designs to build from.

A senior designer, assigned from day one, works on your project with Sid, our design lead, who you meet on the discovery call. You talk to both of them directly in Slack and on reviews, and the same people stay with your project from start to finish.

You work directly with the designers on your project, and you can see progress in Slack and Figma as it happens. At the end of every project, we also give you a written note on what is working well and what we would improve next.

Hiring can be the right call once design is a constant need. Until then, one person rarely covers brand, website, product, and build, and a senior hire can take months to find. We cover all of these from the start, and you can scale us up or down as your roadmap changes.

It depends on scope: a fixed price for a defined project, or a monthly retainer for ongoing work. Book an intro call and we will send a clear quote after hearing what you need.

Fixed scope suits work with a clear end point, such as a website, a launch page, or a defined set of screens. A retainer suits design that needs to keep pace with a roadmap that keeps changing.

A focused landing page or homepage usually takes two to three weeks. A full marketing site takes about four to six. Custom illustration, heavy motion, or a custom code build adds time, and we agree the timeline before we start.

Mostly through Slack with regular check-ins, and everything happens in Figma where you can comment directly. You always know what is in progress and what ships next.

Yes. A single landing page, an audit, or one core flow is a good way to see how we work before committing to more. Plenty of longer partnerships started that way.
