10 Best Website Design Agencies for Two-Person Founding Teams - September 2026

Ten studios sized for a company of two, compared on team size, whether a starting price is published, platform, and who you actually talk to during the work.

Siddarth Ponangi

Founder, Studio Maydit

Design partner for AI companies

We design products and websites for AI companies that help them look and feel like a category leader.

For a two-person founding team, the ten studios worth reviewing are Studio Maydit, SuperSkills, Feely Studio, Feels Like, Lazarev, Kvalifik, basement.studio, Foundey, Fantasy, and BX Studio. Feely Studio and BX Studio lead this list. Feely Studio is a one to ten person European team with AI-sector proof and a published starting price, so you get senior people and a number before the first call, and BX Studio has AI proof, a published price, and Reddit, Headspace, and ASAPP as named clients. Fantasy and Lazarev are the wrong fit here. Both are large premium studios, and one of them publishes no clients, no team size, and no pricing at all.

When there are two of you, the website is not a marketing task. It is a decision about which of you stops building for a fortnight.

That framing changes what you should buy. A larger company hands a website to a person whose job it is. You do not have that person. Whatever the studio needs from you comes out of product time, sales time, or sleep, and that cost is invisible in every proposal you will read.

So the real variable is not price. It is how much of your attention the engagement consumes. A studio that needs six workshops, a brand questionnaire, and a stakeholder alignment session is asking for something you cannot pay in.

There is a second problem, and it is one nobody warns you about. Two people cannot disagree productively. In a bigger team, a third voice breaks a deadlock. With two founders, a difference of opinion on the homepage headline can sit unresolved for a week while the studio waits, and the project stalls in the one place you cannot afford it to.

The third is credibility. You are a real company with a real product and a website that has to convince someone you are not a side project. Overcorrecting is the standard mistake, and it is worse than doing nothing.

Before you brief anyone, settle this: which one of you is the single decision maker on this project, and can the other one live with that.

Most AI products look the same. Yours doesn't have to.

How we picked these agencies

Five checks, all of which you can complete from a studio's public pages in an evening.

Platform depth. What do you receive, and can one of you edit it afterwards without help? For a team of two this is close to the whole decision. A site you cannot change yourself becomes a permanent dependency on an outside invoice, and at your stage the copy will change several times in the first six months.

Proof with very small teams. Has this studio worked directly with founders rather than through a marketing department? That is the criterion carrying the most weight in this brief. It shows up in process rather than portfolio: whether they can run on two calls instead of six, whether they will write copy or expect it delivered, and whether their work has ever started without a brand book.

Pricing. Is a starting number published? For two people funding this from revenue or a small round, a public figure is the difference between a shortlist you can make in an evening and four discovery calls that each cost you an afternoon.

Team shape. Small studios mean you speak to the person doing the work. Large ones give you an account manager, which is useful when there are fifteen people on your side and pure overhead when there are two.

Their own site. Nobody commissioned it, so it is the clearest signal of taste and clarity you will get for free. If they cannot explain themselves in three sentences, they will not manage it for you.

An extra question worth asking here. Ask what they need from you each week, in hours. Studios used to founder-led companies give a straight answer and it is usually small. Studios used to marketing departments describe a process instead, which is the answer.

Everything reported in the tables comes from what each studio has chosen to publish about itself. Nothing is inferred, and an empty row means the studio said nothing rather than that we could not find it.

What goes wrong for two-person founding teams

Three failures, and each one comes from the same shortage.

The project stalls on your side and everybody blames the studio. The design arrives, it needs copy for three sections, and both of you are mid-sprint. Two weeks pass. The studio moves on to other work, momentum dies, and the site ships at seventy percent finished because finishing it now requires restarting a conversation nobody has time for. Half-finished sites are the most common outcome at this stage, and the cause is almost never the design.

The company gets written larger than it is. Somewhere in the copy, two people become a team, then a company with values, then a platform. Buyers are unusually good at spotting this, because the tells are consistent: a leadership page with two photos and four job titles, an about section written in a corporate register, testimonials with no names. What actually persuades at this size is the opposite, plainly stating what you have built and who it is for.

The studio's process assumes somebody who does not exist. Many good agencies are built around a client-side marketing lead who gathers assets, chases approvals, and turns feedback into a single list. With two founders, that role lands on whichever of you is worse at saying no. The engagement then runs twice as long as quoted, and the overrun is real cost measured in the product you did not ship.

1. Studio Maydit: A Top-Rated Design Agency for AI Founders

Platform is chosen for the situation rather than out of habit. Framer when the copy is going to change monthly, which at two people it will. Webflow when a first marketing hire should be able to own it. Custom code when the product genuinely will not fit either. Studio Maydit is a web and product design studio, its clients are AI founders, and they sit across the US, UK, and Europe. It is founder-led and small, so the person you explain the product to is the person designing it, and it continues into product design once the site is live.

The ICP came first at Dualite. A repositioned ICP was agreed before anything was designed, the work then served only the narrower group that decision created, and 100,000+ users arrived over seven months. For a company of two this is the most transferable lesson on the page, because you have no capacity to serve three audiences and the temptation to try is strongest when the customer base is still small. Recent clients include Wave, PixelFlow, Mi-VAD, and 15 other AI and SaaS teams.

There is no long lock-in on the monthly retainer, which matters when you are two people and next quarter is genuinely uncertain. It covers new pages, campaigns, and product design for teams that keep shipping. The alternative is fixed scope, three to four weeks, which suits a team working toward a launch date and ends with a written diagnosis of what is leaking in the product rather than a handover call.

2. SuperSkills

SuperSkills is a one to ten person studio in Walnut Creek with AI-sector proof and The Cut as its named client. A team that small starts quickly, there is no account layer between you and the work, and the AI experience means you will not spend the first call explaining what a model does.

The public evidence is very thin: one named client, no founding year, and no published pricing, so everything has to be established in conversation.

3. Feely Studio

Feely Studio is a distributed European team of one to ten people with AI-sector proof and a published starting price, for Noxus, Mutiny, Luasai, and Basic Capital. That combination is rare and it is exactly what a two-person team needs: senior people, AI experience, and a number you can act on before booking anything.

The team is small enough that timing depends on their availability, and no founding year is published.

4. Feels Like

Feels Like is a Los Angeles studio founded in 2023 working in custom code, with AI-sector proof, for Google, Nike, LVMH, and Suno AI. Suno AI is a consumer AI product with a genuine explanation problem, and the craft on show is high.

Custom code is the wrong default at your size, because it means coming back to them for every edit. No team size and no pricing are published.

5. Lazarev

Lazarev has run from San Francisco since 2015 with fifty-one to two hundred people, AI-sector proof, and a published starting price, for Payoneer, Peel, Elva, and Mozayix. The capability is broad and the published number is genuinely useful for setting expectations.

The scale is the mismatch. A studio of that size is built around clients with internal teams, and two founders will spend more time coordinating than they expect.

6. Kvalifik

Kvalifik is a Copenhagen studio founded in 2015 with eleven to fifty people, working in Webflow, with AI-sector proof, for Veo, Maersk, and Relesys. Veo is a hardware and software product with a complicated story to tell, and Webflow means one of you can edit the site afterwards without a developer.

No pricing is published, and at eleven to fifty people the engagement assumes more availability on your side than two founders usually have.

7. basement.studio

basement.studio works from Mar del Plata and Los Angeles, founded in 2018, eleven to fifty people, in custom code, with AI-sector proof and a published starting price, for Vercel, Cursor, ElevenLabs, Harvey AI, and Scale AI. That client list is the strongest AI-native record on this page by a distance.

Custom code means you cannot edit the result yourselves, which is a heavy ongoing commitment for a company of two.

8. Foundey

Foundey is a San Francisco studio founded in 2021 working Figma-only, with AI-sector proof, for DemandIQ, Traycer, and Sero AI. Three AI clients means the conversation starts several steps ahead, and design-only engagements can be lighter to run than full builds.

Figma-only means you receive files and still need someone to build the site, which for two founders is another job rather than fewer. No team size or pricing is published.

9. Fantasy

Fantasy has worked from San Francisco and New York since 1999 with AI-sector proof. Twenty-six years of continuous practice is unusual, and the perspective that comes with it is real.

For this brief there is almost nothing to weigh. No named clients, no team size, and no pricing are published, so a two-person team would be committing on reputation alone, which is an expensive way to find out.

10. BX Studio

BX Studio is a New York studio of eleven to fifty people working in Webflow, with AI-sector proof and a published starting price, for Reddit, Headspace, ASAPP, and Verifone. ASAPP is an AI product sold to large companies, and Webflow plus a published number is a practical combination at your size.

No founding year is published, and the client list is larger companies, so the process may assume more of you than two people can supply.

How to choose between them

Sort by what is actually broken.

If the problem is that neither of you has time, buy the smallest studio that can write as well as design. Feely Studio or SuperSkills, and make writing part of the scope in writing.

If the problem is that the site looks like a side project, you need craft and a recognisable client list more than speed. BX Studio or Kvalifik.

If one of you is technical and will happily maintain a custom build, the options open up. basement.studio, whose AI client list is the strongest here.

If you need design only because you are building it yourselves, Foundey.

One test before you sign. Ask how many hours a week they will need from you, and whether the project survives a fortnight where you are both unavailable. The honest answer to the second question tells you everything about whether the engagement fits a company of two.
